That'll be a bit different. Looks like they could be expecting a certain BB to be ready by the time it leaves. :)

According to this months Railway Magazine, a deal was done with Mr Wilson last year for the NVR to use the services of S160 5197 for a period of five years. Due to progress not being as rapid as had been hoped for with 5197, the decision was made to send the currently operational S160 6046 in its place until the CVR Gala in February 2015. Post CVR Gala, 5197 will then take up the remaining four years of the agreement. The article mentions it is hoped to have 5197 in traffic for the CVR santa specials this year.

I have to admit I don't know much about the CVR but won't this leave them short on operational steam locos?

It will be interesting to see it in tandem with that big Alco the IRPS are overhauling at Ferry Meadows.

Wasn't the intention for this loco to go mainline?

N7 with us until End of June.
TKH to start running in shortly.
We're kind of used to only having 1 steam loco available per yr. We don't run services 7 days a week, so we do have a chance to complete running maintenance and any repairs before the next operating days. Only if we have a severe failure are we stuffed like N7 breaking a spring last summer, but NYMR were kind enough to help us out with Lambton Tank 29 so there wasn't any major disruption.

Thanks for the info, CVR is one of the few railways that I haven't got round to visiting yet... hopefully I'll be able to change that in the near future!

I'd like to see an S160 at the SVR on the GWR goods wagons one day, a decent recreation of a 1940s goods train.

The S160s may have only played a very small part in the history of Britain's railways but it would be nice to see such a thing recreated.

I understand the GWR had a large number in its fleet so the SVR would be a "proper" place to visit. According to Wikipaedia the company allocations of the first batch were ; -
So whether to SVR or NVR 6046's visits are to "appropriate" locations, whilst its home base is also equally appropriate.

On my wish list for a long time...ideally in full war time livery and rather grubby.

The 300 engines played a key part in the build up to D Day.
