925 had a go in 2012 on the Saturday got a picture also 6023 did not get a go this winter but I guess lot of people came to ride behind 6023 it would be a waste to miss a trip just to do a tpo run

Yes all in all it was a good day operationally with only the failure of 78019 late afternoon putting a dampener on things and causing a few delays at Loughborough. I'm reliably informed the current plan for tomorrow is for 1744 to cover the diagram of 78019 and for class 20 D8098 to take the N2's diagram. Of course this may well have changed by the time I return in the morning!

    Kind regards,

    Phil

After a visit to the GCR at the weekend I can safely say that this was the best steam gala event that I have been to this year. At times there were trains departing from Loughborough every 15 min. As well as the usual passenger services there was a 14 wagon goods train, a 14 wagon mineral train and a 5 coach mail train. Who could ask for more? The sight of 73129 and Manston double-heading was a reminder for me of my early years spent watching the express trains rattle through Midsomer Norton station on the old Somerset and Dorset railway. Those were happy days but so was Saturday at the GCR.
Many thanks to all those involved who helped make this autumn's gala so very successful. <BJ>
