More hard work for Tangmere this week with two runs of the Canterbury Belle. Unlike the Statesman Pullman I see Tangmere has only one stop, a water stop at Lenham on the Down run. Look to be slightly earlier timings than The Statesman. Coming back, subject to there being no power or signal problems, timings look similar. No times for Saturday's run yet.

Got this shot of Tangmere working hard through West Brompton. Tangmere was bang on time.

Hurray! No oily diesel on the back! I thought Tangmere wasn't trusted up Martin Mill bank without one these days......

Quick video of her at Hildenborough, is it just me or does she not sound quite right? Nonetheless she still lifted the valves as she passed the bridge at the North end of the station.

    Agreed, did sound different.

Maybe driving style? Not sure. Where's Big Al?

It sounded like it was missing a beat this morning, I'll upload the vids later tonight.

Edit, I have noticed, Yesterday with Bittern and today with Tangmere, they both had exceptionally clean exhausts. Very noticeable with Tangmere - usually always looks like its burning old bedding.

Did this train go off route on the return?
I'm fairly sure we passed it in the tunnel between Sydenham Hill and Penge at about the times it was supposed to be on Denmark Hill loop.....

I don't know south of the river, but there's a big gap in reported timings, so possible it was diverted.

Making that short time from Shortlands Junction to Voltaire Junction, and the fact there are no reports around the Catford Loop makes me think it came up the main line. Presumably it could still cross over at Voltaire Junction.
