What's the "Thursday job"? The only tour shown on uksteam is The Cheshireman - is No 9 replacing Bittern on this?

Could not believe how shabby the WCRC class47 was.

If your going to substitute steam with a diesel, at least put something half decent in appearance on the front, not something with great flakes of paintwork falling off! The punters on these tours pay a lot of money, they deserve better and I know WCRC have better presented locos in their fleet.

With less than 24 hrs notice you get what is available or nothing at all!

At least the return journey was not so drawn out as the outward, arriving at BTM 81 early.

From what i've seen of the WCRC coaching stock they really should look after the outside of them better...some of those coaches look awful, and the ones that have been 'painted' look to have been painted with a broom!

Through Headstone Lane at 13:39. (This may not really be the right thread to report that, but it follows from recent posts above.)

I assume No.9 is OK for torrow? Tickets for next week arrived this monring indicating the loco will be 44932. Not may trips have run with a class 5 over the South Devon Banks!

I'm a little confused about the Duchy on the 16th... Please feel free to correct me if I am mistaken! :)

Reading another thread from Martin (Sidmouth), it sounds like the load will now be 8, after one of the coaches was removed. But, I thought all class 5s were limited to 6 or 7 over the banks? There are several videos of 45407 slogging up Hemerdon with 7 on - is 8 pushing it, or have I missed something?

Is there be a reason why 46115 can't come down instead? It would allow for more running in etc... I'm curious, that's all.

Of course, I'm pleased that a steam locomotive has been 'found'. It'll still make a flippin' good noise up Dainton and Hemerdon! :p

Forgive me for asking the obvious but it looks like you were inside the fence? Certainly the others were. Did they get reported?

The reason a Black 5 can go is because following the GB VI there is Gauging data for a 5 to Par/St BZ. There is no time to get Gauging for anything different. NR require at least two weeks.

I know 44932 allegedly has a bit more grunt than a normal black five (something about the superheating I think I was told), but I still think 8 leaves no margin for error for a class 5, anything less than a dry rail and 60 through Newton Abbott would concern me.
