In the absence of any news I assuming yesterdays 'steaming' was another red herring - I am not shooting the messenger BTW

Talking to a friend last night, Carnforth are using Welsh coal at the moment so it would be more difficult to see if the loco was in steam as hardly any smoke is produced, so who knows.... it may well have had its test the other day :D

Forget giving Smithy a giggle, Im sat here sniggering reading the last couple of pages, just imagining someone stationed in the bushes on the far side of the WCML with huge Binoculars in camoflage gear with a radio to Ralph and the other North West members ready to yell "all units, go, go GO!!!".

Can't see there being much rush to finish this off over the winter unless it is needed to cover Tangmere annual repairs in the south after Christmas.

If a night outing is possible, maybe interested sniffer dogs positioned downwind could be on the alert !

I thought I saw something different about the sleeper as it passed the Euxton web cam, but being dark I wasn't sure...

I will see if I can get a screen grab of it.

Yes thought I could, you can faintly see the stealth headlight and even a bit of track after tweaking the picture a bit.

A friend of a friend told me that his sister's husband had been talking to a reliable contact of somebody who has heard that West Coast have clad 45569 with the body of one of the Class 47 diesels from their scrap line in order that they can test it without anybidy noticing. So next time you see a West Coast 47, check whether it's emitting lots of smoke amd steam (no, on second thoughts, that could just be a normal WCRC 47).
