Does anyone have any up to date news on 80097 currently under restoration at the East Lancashire Railway. The latest progress report on the Bury Standard 4 Group's website is dated September 2009.

The refreshed web site is now updated on a weekly basis at, www.burystandard4group.org.uk

The breaking news is that we now have an agreement with the East Lancashire Light Railway, (ELLR) & the Bury Steam Locomotive Company Limited, to get the boiler restored by a preferred contractor within the next twelve to eighteen months. We are working on the firebox and the new boiler barrel sections to cut down the cost of the overall price of the boiler restoration work.
We hope to have the engine up and running on The East Lancashire Railway, within six to twelve months after the boiler has been returned to us.
Anyone wishing to purchase shares or join the Bury Standard four group or to give us a hand in the restoration please contact us through the web site.

80097 has been 4 years away from steam for as many years as I can remember.
Glad to see the end is finally in sight, even if its still upto 2.5 years away.

The very same proposal was put to the owners 11 years ago but was rejected on the grounds they would achieve completion without assistance in the same time.
Sincerely hope the new scheme works out and concludes 30 years of effort. ELR has been crying out for the loco for at least half that time.
    Then there's 46428 ........
