    Hi All,

I'm a looking into locomotives with scout related connection (name etc) and have so far come across these two
    1. LNER B17 2846 Gilwell Park
    2. LMS Royal Scot 6169 The Boy Scout

Does anybody know of anymore locos that have a connection with the scouts, or know of any photos of these two.

I'm looking into running a rail/steam night with my local scout group (for which im an assistant leader) later this year or early next year so any help would be much appreciated.

There are 4 basic guises; unrebuilt and rebuilt with and without smoke deflectors. The original engines had parallel boilers (i.e. the boilers were equal size at the smokebox end as where the boiler barrel met the firebox. The later rebuilds had 2A boilers and had a taper boiler, where the smokebox is less in diameter than where the boiler barrel meets the firebox.

Also an "Atbara" 3382 Mafeking (where the boy messengers in the famous Boer War siege inspired BP to eventually form the boy scouts).

Don't forget Brittania 70035 Rudyard Kipling, the "Jungle Book" being the source of the naming of the rank structure of the wolf cubs/cub scouts ie Akela
