It will be interesting to see where Bittern is repaired considering the loco is required in Bristol by Saturday morning. <BJ>

No obvious signs of smoke or steam on the way past tonight - I'm sure I didn't imagine it this morning but as I drive past and need to mostly keep my eyes on the road I suppose its possible (apologies if that turns out to be the case or something daft was happening like something behind it!). On the other hand in the heat tonight light steam may not show whereas it might in the morning. I'll check again tomorrow - might save eco a trip!

Apparently both 4464 and 34067 will be taken to Yeovil today, then will be rescued by a WCRC loco on Friday... I hope 70000 does make it...

But on tauntontrains.co.uk, it says this:
    4464 'BITTERN' & 70013 'OLIVER CROMWELL
So we really have no idea.

Should diesel enthusiasts be allowed access to computers one wonders ?

Was never going to be 70013, it doesn't work for DBS.

Dbs currently operates the following class 7/8's:

    5029 (oou),
    35028 (SL),
    6201 (TYS),
    60009 (Crewe),
    60019 (failed, Yeovil),
    60163 arrives Southall tonight),
    70000 (failed Bristol),
    71000 (Southall-Bristol tonight)

If 4464, 70000 aren't fixed for Saturday and 60163 doesn't go tonight, my guess is a 66 will join the formation.
60163 hasn't got any booked work now till mid-August.

That'll be just great - especially as we picked this tour for the double heading over the RTC cheaper option the following day!

There is a class 50 lurking in the area, and pathfinder are known for diesel tours, though I don't know DBS operates this loco.?

Out of curiousity, does anyone know why 6201 was stood down from the Cathex today ?, "failed" or whatever the reason was is a little vague.

71000 solo with a 66 hanging off the back may suprise a few, I seem to remember 71000 almost made it up Dainton with the equivelant of 13 or so till it hit the flange greaser, all unassisted due to the 67 throwing a computer related paddy.

This is really disappointing and leaves me feeling completely vindicated in my decision to pay on the day.

Hopefully a steam solution will be found, but if a 66 turns up on Saturday the industry is going to lose a lot of credibility, credibility it can scarecely afford to lose.

After what happened to the 60163 / 71000 combination in March the powers that be should have had a back up for the back up plan in place for this run. Until we refuse to put up with this kind of thing, instead of smiling and making the best of it the service wil never improve. We are our own worst enemy !

That is a very stupid statement....... Bills making a fair point... I know its a shock to you kettle men( if you lot can call a diesel a box then I can call steam a kettle., so there, nah nah..) but not EVERYBODY has steam as their favourite... Taunton Trains is an excellent site... every site has mistakes from time to time..Nat Pres ( I know some call it Nat Speculation...) more than most but there's no need to have a go because you dont like it..
