It was looking quite advanced but boiler-less a couple of days ago.

I'd hazard a guess that the 41 probably won't be ready, but as always keep you fingers crossed. The boiler Has been quite a big job by the looks of it.

I was handing out leaflets at the SVR Gala this past weekend. Managed to give out quite a few, but what pleased me most was that a lot of the people I got talking to on the Friday & Saturday was that a majority of people had already booked their tickets.

Even one person said he was coming for the entire 9 days. :)

    Not long to go now.

The LMS Patriot project and 6880 were at the West Somerset spring gala at the weekend. There are many people there who are also attending. It really is heading towards being a great gala. Just hope the weather holds up.

According to the latest Steam Railway magazine, by an article by David Wilcock. Tornado will haul the first passenger train onto the new extension on the first day, with 7822 'Foxcote Manor. This will be in top & tail.

Does anybody know if the event will provide a bus service between Llangollen and Ruabon on the Sundays of the gala?

    Thanks,
    Lewis

I can say that a bus service does run from Wrexham to Llangollen via Ruabon. It is the 5A hourly service, compared to the 15 minute it runs between Monday & Saturday.

Here is the link for you. WCBC: Bus Timetable Index

Does anyone know when the tickets are going to be posted out? We booked ours a good few weeks ago but have not heard anything.
    Also we ordered a programme?
They came out earlier than this last time I'm sure?

I recieved an email from 6880 six days ago about this. They said that the tickets and brochure should be out for delivering by the end of next week, but the timetable for the brochure needs to be finalised by their operations department.

Thanks TrainDude. We haven't received anything but good to know that they are in the way.
I guess they can't just put in the normal intensive gala timetable because of the extension. Hope that's the reason for the holdup anyway!

You can run the 30min tt from the previous gala with trains to Corwen. However it was decided not to do this, as they want to encourage people to visit Glyndyfrdwy and the events field. Therefore the only way you can go to Corwen is by boarding the autotrain at Glyn which then runs non-stop to Bonwm before returning to Carrog. In order to allow this to run the 30min tt has had to be disrupted somewhat.

For SSS1 & 2 I had 24 departures from Llan on the Fridays / Saturdays IIRC. This has now been reduced to around 18 I believe.

As for the hold up, I'm afraid I've no idea as stated previously I am unfortunately unable to assist with this gala as I had for 1 & 2.

If yours arrived on Friday, then that's a sign that the footplate crews, guards & signalmen will be getting the rosters through their e-mail/letterboxes soon.

Anyone know when the larger locos, i.e. Tornado and Brittania are comming in by road, father lives near Ruabon so could be ideal for seeing these moves.

    thanks
