Britannia will work the cumbrian mountain express on the 3rd march for uk railtours. she's working it from York so I'm guessing that it will be up to then. She's then stowed at carlisle for the return working for Pathfinders.
    Hope this helps ;)

She's presently positioned next to Evening Star; a brilliant move, imo - the 'first' and 'last' of the BR-built Standards side by side :) . Well done, whoever thought of that particular location

She looks smart, but slightly 'work-worn' at present; a very authentic appearance

There is a rather good photo in the latest issue of Heritage Railway on page 3............... a nice set of buffers, so to speak! Ahem! (Sorry couldn't resist the page 3 joke.)

HR does raise the question about whether the loco's have ever met before? I can't think of an occasion when they have.

Stored together at Preston Park Brighton 1968-71.
Sorry, that is not correct. 70000 left Preston Park before 92220 arrived.

Sent an email to the NRM asking how long 70000 will be displayed for. The reply said she'd be removed during w/c 27th and moved to the North Yard where she will be on limited display, prior to leaving on 2nd March. I'm going that week and I hope I can see her next to 92220. Yes, a masterstroke!

How ironic is that , 70000 was earmarked as being part of the national collection , but turned over in favour of 70013, this is a right what could have been photo as someone has said, the first and last standard design side by side and at the NRM

70000 was, indeed, stored at Preston Park as part of the National Collection. Unfortunately, it was heavily vandalised, for want of a better word, and it was decided that 70013 would take its place.

I called in to the NRM yesterday to take a look at 70000 in the Great Hall. I must say I was a bit disappointed at the paint finish.............looked like a lot of vertical brush marks....

I was fortunate enough to see her on Tuesday. Must admit I didn't look that closely at the paint finish. However, in photographs, there's one little detail that keeps catching my eye: the top surfaces of the running boards are painted green. Is that authentic? On 70013 those areas are painted black...
