    Happy New Year.

Is it safe to assume that the VSOE special on January 7th is running to the usual timings for that route?

    Many Thanks.

Provisional times on UKsteam, would be something of a shock if they were any different from the usual times. Weather forecast looks okay too.

I presume so, the first Mainline steam tour of the year, I for one will be out there somewhere. Over the years I am running short of

different locations to film her around the Surrey Hills. Hoping to try a different spot around Ranmore Common area tomorrow weather

    permitting.

I always pop over to Egham and it always looks brilliant as she opens up towards the station with great smoke! Then it is over to Woking just to see the look of amazement on the faces of Jo Public at this busy station.

Thanks Nick I have'nt done hard boiled Egham for a while now. Will probably stick to my original plan out in the sticks of Ranmore Common. Hope to see you out there soon.

Decided to head out for this at the last minute. Wasn't disappointed. Went to Worplesedon where the crew were really giving her some today. Listen to the soundtrack of my video here:
35028 Clan Line on a VSOE excursion storms through Worplesdon. 7th January 2012. - YouTube

I have never heard a loco accelerating like 35028 did today on that section before. Quite a show from 35028. And I thought she was the quiet Bulleid! Had to make do with a head on shot from the footbridge:

Think you had better luck than me today. Tried out at Buckland, found some sun but no steam or sound as 35028 cruised towards Reigate. Great to see Clan Line out on the main line though which is the important thing:

Nice shot David in the sun. Sod's law it went in at Worplesdon when she approached. I think the crew were taking it easy at your location as I read elsewhere that she had problems with slipping on the climb from Shalford.

Ok green five, thanks for that. Certainly can be a challenging climb up from Shalford. It's not a massive climb but I guess it's always from a standing start at Shalford. Still thinking about Tornado going up there a few weeks ago in a storm, late at night. Anyway, hope they all got back okay yesterday.

I have filmed Clan Line up that hill many times, pulling the same load it had Saturday, in many weathers, even at leaf fall. - Like this 35028 Clan Line (35017 Belgian Marine) 03-12-2011 - YouTube It's managed it fairly easily. I have even filmed it pulling from a standing start up the short but acute bank to get up onto the main line at Byfleet and New Haw from the Addlestone loop with just a small bit of wheel slip here 35028 Clan Line (35017 Belgian Marine) (67005 Queens Messenger) 09-12-2011 - YouTube In my experience Clan Line has not been lightfooted this year. There must be some other factor. Crew perhaps?

Good one Mark. It's reassuring to see how the crew handle the slip at the crossing. This loco always seems to produce a clean exhaust which suggests proper combustion.
