Yes but my knowledge of photoshop is limited so I can't work out how to darken the steam without darkening the rest of the picture.

I should have used the graduated filter I had in my bag so only have myself to blame.

The simple way is to make a copy of your RAW file, open it in the RAW
converter and darken the picture with the exposure slider until the
exhaust and sky look right. The rest of the photo will be dark as well but don't worry.

Then open the photo in Photoshop. Go back and open the original shot in the RAW converter and then Photoshop.
Click select - all - edit - copy. Then bring up the darkened photo and click edit - paste.
Your over exposed shot is now on top of the dark shot. Use the eraser
tool to rub out the over exposed exhaust and sky to show the darkened version underneath. Then click layer - merge down.

You can replicate a grad filter in photoshop which is probably a better
way of doing it, but see how you get on.

Anyone at Victoria-I wondered why the usual Plat 2 wasn't used on Saturday?
Perhaps something else was stuck on there. Most odd.

Most probably because of the original timings were for the Dover trip, I can only assume as there was an hour to wait for the Surrey Hills alternative platform 2 was needed
for service trains. It was certainly busy whilst I was there and made a change to depart from what was known as the boat train platform.

I agree it was a pleasant surprise, this is only the 2nd time I've seen steam on a different platform at Victoria.. Last time 34067 arrived in platform 3 one evening, I think 2007, because 35028 was still occupying platform 2... Great pictures at the buffers.

It's easy to spot which plat uses steam... The bridge at the end of platform 2 has a smoke stain over the plat 2 road..from all those strong departures..none of the other roads have it.

As the office for the Orient is based at Plat 2,departure from other platforms present a problem. They all meet there then lead onto the platform-departing from elsewhere must be a nightmare scrambling too and from...

Let's hope the train returns to it's home base.

I think the stock and loco took a different route from usual between The Lane and Victoria.

Timings for Saturday show load 12 + POB, 455 tons. Doesn't say diesel is attached, but does state that it remains attached for banking out of Victoria. Can only assume then that it stays on the back all day.
