Can anyone confirm the type and colour of the "BRITISH RAILWAYS" lettering found on the side of Terrier W8 (later to become 32646) as seen when at Eastleigh in company of W13. We know W8 was in plain black with its plates removed but the picture we have makes it difficult to identify the style of the lettering. W13 (to become 32677) on the other hand we know was in Malachite green again with nameplates removed and the "BRITISH RAILWAYS" in Southern lettering. Any ideas and and even better any pictures please?

Where would this photograph be found?

That would almost certainly be freshly applied (or even freshly cleaned!) Bulleid 'Sunshine' yellow lettering with malachite green shadowing on plain matt black livery. For the Southern variation of this livery in preservation, see pictures of M7 No. 53 or of the Q1 in York. I can see the difficulty in ascertaining what colour it is, as there is a temptation to guess that the lettering is cream/straw-coloured, however I'm personally at least 75% sure that it is Bulleid 'Sunshine' lettering. Anyone else concur/disagree?
