Thought I would post an update on progress.
After the Snowplough returned from Shildon RRNE the bodywork still required a lot of work.
Currently all the east side (RHS) has been replanked, 6 new skirt door panels made and fitted.
Both cab doors have been removed and attention given as required.
A new steel undertray has been fitted to the toe of the slope as the old one was totally shot.

The West side rebuild has been put on hold for the moment as time is pressing.
But I have gone ahead with the full repaint of the plough, 6 coats in all, but to a slightly lesser standard on the West side (LHS) As this will have to be done at a later date.

At the moment I am awaiting details from Kirkby Stephen for movement dates to the August Bank Holiday weekend 150th event.

Hopefully I will be ready by then.

It looks really good, Bryan! You should be proud of what you have achieved, and I'm sure you are.

Will be at the Kirkby Stephen event representing the Eden Valley Railway, and look forward to seeing he plough up close.

NER Snowplough 18 is now back in NER livery and will be appearing at the
Stainmore 150th event at Kirkby Stephen over the August Bank Holiday.
If you are attending please say hello and have a look.
It moves from the NYMR on wednesday and is due away for about a week.

Well it took a couple of years but finally after much effort by a small team and a visit to a specialist workshop for frame renewal.
Snowplough 18 has gone from this:-

What a fantastic vehicle to be able to see restored.

I have always had a special soft spot for vehicles that, in all honesty, may not be a heritage railway's highest priority/money earner. In my opinion the preservation movement is therefore at its best when such vehicles' futures are secured. Congratulations to all those involved.
