Already promised assuming they are available are:

Std Class 5 73050 'City of Peterborough'
    4F 44422
    Austerity No22
    Hudswell Clarke No1800
    Class 31 31108
    Class 40 D306
Class 14 (any one of three)

I'm intrigued as to the identity of the 'guest' though. The page on the link clearly indicates there is a guest yet to be announced. Personally I'm hoping for either GWR No2807 or LNER B1 1306 'Mayflower'.

I'm hoping that someone on here might know more than me. nudge nudge wink wink!

I've heard talk of what the loco is likely to be, and I hope you won't be disappointed. However until it's confirmed and announced publicly it would be irresponsible for me to say more.

Unfortunately I'll still be up at uni then so will miss the gala, but it's shaping up to be a cracker!

To bump this thread up and update it a bit...

Sadly it seems that the hoped-for guest steam locomotive will not be paying a visit, however this event is a rare chance to sample much of the operational home fleet over one weekend. This event is being held instead of the Spring Diesel Gala of previous years.

Loco line up now advertised as:

    BR Standard 5MT 73050
    Fowler 4F 44422
    Austerity 0-6-0ST No.22
    Polish 0-8-0T No.5485
    Class 40 D306
    Class 31 31108
    Class 14 - one of D9516, D9520, or D9523

The following attractions will also be available over the weekend:

    Freight Train in operation

    Travelling Post Office in operation

Mail Exchanges at Sutton Cross at 12.51

    Mail exchanges at Yarwell from 13.00 - 13.30 & 15.00 - 15.30

Steam Crane in operation at Wansford (Display Saturday/Operation Sunday Only)

    Vintage vehicles & buses

Shed tours of Locomotive Shed and Carriage and Wagon department

    Lineside Passes

    Intensive Timetable

Mark 1 carriages & SNCB set

Club Car in operation (supplementary fare applies, limited places available, please see the main NVR website: http://www.nvr.org.uk/timetable/mt.php

    Trade Stalls, including:

    Bufferbeam
    Somerset and Dorset Heritage Trust
    M&B Models Model Railway Specialist
    Battle of Britain Locomotive Society
    International Railway Preservation Society
    Renown & Repulse Group

7 1/4 Gauge Class 14 Locomotive (DISPLAY ONLY)

    Other attractions to be confirmed.

Please note, Special Fares will apply for this event.

    Link to Working Timetable.

This looks like a fun event, with a lot of variety!

The provision of the WTT is great, and much appreciated. However, does anyone know if the loco roster (or diagrams) will be available in advance? It'd be a shame to travel to the event, only to find that some locos were confined to TPO/goods workings etc. Will all locos be on passenger workings at some point?

    Cheers,

    Phil.

    Hi there,

I'm afraid I do not know, however I will see if I can find out for you. At past NVR events the locos have tended to chop and change a lot giving variety on the different workings, but whether this will be the case for this event I can't say at present.

    Regards, Paul

I have now found out the situation regarding the loco roster. As it stands, the latest details for the event are on the official webpage as previously given. The Loco allocation will be placed on the timetable before the event, now the timetable has been agreed the Loco allocation will be added on asap. So please keep an eye on the website/timetable and it should be updated as the event approaches.

It has been confirmed however that the Polish 0-8-0T No.5485 will definitely be on the air-braked passenger set (1930s Belgian SNCB coaches) all day. The other locos will not be confined to a particular rake in this way, and UK locos should always be hauling UK stock.

Despite the lack of guest engine this is still looking a very busy event. Being as it will be my last NVR gala before we move away from the area we are looking forward to the chance to travel on the SNCB set. Its the first time its been in service for any of our visits.

Would I be right in thinking that this will be the last gala for the 'Slask'? I believe its ticket is up in september but I don't know if thats at the beginning or end.

Does anyone know what the guest was going to be? Or why it pulled out?

I'm not a volunteer in the loco dept, but I'll try and answer your questions as best I can.

The Polish tank's ticket finishes some time later this year (couldn't tell you the exact date). Though she has been sidelined for a fair while, so I'm not sure if an extension would be viable or not.

I'd heard a rumour as to what the guest was going to be, but as I'd heard nothing official and nothing was ever confirmed it's probably best not to say as it could have been complete tosh!

Yes; it would be great if we can get a roster before the event.

Really fancy this one after only doing NVR diesel galas since October 2006.

Any plans for mixed combinations eg) steam and diesel on the same train?

Wonder if double heading / top & tail will be happening?

Keep the news coming as we get nearer to the event.

    Many thanks

    Andrew

D306 has been removed from the line up - any reason why?

    Class 14 confirmed as D9520

    Yep; roster would be ideal.

Sorry about this guys, will try to chase it up for you and find out what is going on... I've no idea why the loco roster has not been published yet as it should have been by now.

Ok an update sooner than I expected: I have now been informed by one of the organisers that the loco allocation is hot off the press and should hit the website at some point tomorrow (Tuesday), assuming there are no further problems. Several amendments to loco allocations have had to be made in the last few days, hence the delays.

Apologies to all potential visitors for the delays in getting this information out!

Any idea which way 73050 and 44422 are facing? Saw a couple of double headers at the Banbury Cross in Jan with both locos the wrong way round, somehow it just doesn't look right.

I've been to and on Nene Valley Railway many times in the past but this will be the first time i've been to a gala there. Looking forward to this. Especially getting a ride behind the 4F as i've only briefly seen it in the past at Minehead.
