Absolutely agree! My attention has been diverted a little with all the other things going on, such as 2807 returning to steam last year and the nail-biting developments at the GWSR regarding landslips, so this wonderful project has really caught my attention! It is an amazing sight even in its almost finished state and I think that we are really privileged to be able to witness one of these historic steam railmotors running again. I will really have to see it in the flesh! Well done to all involved, wonderful stuff!

This is probably well known to most of you, but.....

How will they get it into Didcot over NR rails?

Yes, it is the only way, unless we get the hand of god to lift it for us!

This project on its own is an amazing achievement which reflects greatly on those who have done the hard work. Add the "Blue King" [Nice to see a GWR engine in a different colour!] and GWS must surely be in demand for 2011. Well done to the GWS for giving us TWO really superb projects to marvel at this year!

Thanks for that photograph - it looks amazing, it really does. A credit to all who've worked on her.

Congratulations to all involved, what a beauty.
Would look good at Toddington doing the Laverton/Hailes section (wishful thinking).

Quite surreal that video!!!!!!! The sound of the approaching train, and then it appears.... :faint:

What an amazing machine, and a fabulous job of restoration. I'll definitely be out to see her when I get the chance.

Came across it yesterday evening at Berwyn. Looked absolutely superb. Would love a 'quick spin'.

Wonderful piece of kit - but the Llangollen website is totally silent about it outside the motive power inventory

Is it going to do any service whilst in North Wales?

I don't think so apart from maybe a few special events like the one pictured, it will not be shown to the public until the 28th May its official launch date at Didcot. The intention is that after operating at Didcot for a about a year, she will then do a tour of the UK, then return to Didcot after that :)

It's only doing special runs for project supporters & photo charters & will not be doing any public runs before leaving for Didcot.

As long as it is getting out an about sometimes - Didcot is a wonderful place - but its a bit like caged lions for something like this

That was my thinking behind doing the photo charter on Tuesday, it was nice to have a decent length journey on it, as well as get some photos in the countryside.
