can't quite understand this leaving two steam locomotives in south wales, also 44871 & 45407 working carmarthen to london on the 13 would mean a lot of miles in two days although they are due to visit the svr the following weekend but still the svr is not exactly in south wales and this would leave leander out of the picture.

I hadn't looked at it properly, 44871 and 45407 from ? and Chester to Carmarthen on the 12th, then to London on the 13th, so 44871 very unlikely to be back in Manchester for the 14th. No doubt it will get sorted, hope it doesn't mean cancellation of the Heart of Wales as well.

Does any body know what will be pulling the Lincoln trip on the 13th of march out of St Pancras or even if is still running.

Steam Railway says it is 70013 but now more likely to be from Victoria instead of due to weekend engineering works at St Pancras station.

The RTC website has it starting from Victoria now, not St.Pancras.:frusty:

I received a letter today from RTC advising that " The Lincoln Imp" is starting from Victoria, it goes on to say : -
"This is due to upgrading work on the line from St Pancras, which we have now been informed will affect all our planned day tours heading north from St Pancras this year"

Its a shame, but on the plus side, there's several miles worth of extra track from Victoria, as the 'Lincoln Imp' will presumably use the West London Extension and the West London line as far as Willesden Junction, where it'll join the West Coast Mainline for a sprint to Watford Junction. From here, it would probably take the St. Alban's Branch, thus joining the Midland Mainline. As for steam from St. Pancras, there's always the winter tour programme (when finalised), the occasional 'extra' or next year ;).

There is no connection from Watford Jc to St Albans MML. It will probably go via Barnes, Kew East Jc, South Acton, Acton Wells, Dudding Hill Jc and Hendon.

Ah, that's what happens when you use the National Rail Timetable Map 2011 and not a railway atlas! I stand corrected. So it does a bit of the North London Line as well?

I agree - a tried and tested route even if it takes for ever to get to north London. I'm still recovering from Hendon to Waterloo via Kew with the Duke last July - 93 minutes must be some kind of record!

Or are we going to end up like last year with just 2 locos in the Crewe pool, and don't forget in August Compass are running steam hauled Crewe to Carlisle every Monday so the crews are going to be busy.

48151 is now rostered for "The Heart of Wales"

Pity the "Central Wales Explorer" from Paddington is got cancelled. If that was due to loco availabilty, what are the changes of one in mid July to take 48151 back North after its trips for Steam Dreams?
