As I say every year, I'd love to see some proper industrials released as RTR - by which I don't mean the locos out of the kids' train sets painted with a colliery name on the side!

I recall many years ago Dapol were going to do an Andrew Barclay and a Peckett 0-4-0 but that never came through.
but I agree the model market now is saturated with just about everything mainline not far from being produced.

The model market soon will need to go down the Industrial and the Pre-1923 route, as there's only so many times you can reinvent the mould for a Std 4 4-6-0 or a class 47.

To be honest "standard" industrials such as a Barclay 0-4-0, Avonside 0-6-0, Peckett 0-4-0 would be profitable models as there's oodles of paint variations and the tooling costs for a small model such as this are not that great or complex, many people would buy more than one. (I'd like to see MSC Hudswell Clarkes personally)

Aye, I wouldn't be too fussy, just some sort of proper industrial... Various liveries on hornby austerities are ok, but get a little repetitive! I should think just about any layout up to the mid 70s has room for one industrial too!

And beyond thanks to preserved railways. I would love a nice little industrial tank.

Also mentioned on the 38xx thread, but here it is anyway, the even longer-awaited 30901 Winchester is also due this month, having originally been announced in January 2009! You wait all year for a later-era Southern model, then too many come at once!

It would be nice for Dapol to get on top of its to be released OO gauge locos. The NBL 22s and 41s have been on my wish list for many years.

Some Idustrials for me too MSC Short And Long Tanks would be great. A 0-4-0 Barclay as the liverys they carried are endless.

Does anyone know when hornby and bachmann release a list of their new products? Last year Hornby put up a list on the stroke of midnight xmas day and bachmann a couple of months later, but seeing as I'm yet to see a single one of bachmann's latest releases (the SDJR 7F, MR 3F, only just started seeing the A2's on ebay) I should probably just contend myself with their last releases while I wait for the beattie well tanks.

Hornby's put up their 2011 range. Another disappointing year for the Southern fanatic, with only a Q1, N15, Terrier and another stab at 35026 (as they are releasing 35004 for the 2010 'extras' which have still not arrived in the shops), but the LNER are getting a bumper crop with a new B1 model, several new A4s, Sandringham/Footballers and A3s whilst Hornby are also releasing a model of 60163. LMS fans will be happy that the Fowler 4F and 2Ps are now loco driven, but I'm not sure whether they feature new tooling. However, the L&Y 'Pug' is getting the new tooling treatment. Personally, they shouldn't have bothered with 60163; they should have left Bachmann to it and come up with an S15 instead. But then again, I'm biased... By the way, for those who have ordered 34107, you'll have to do a minor bit of surgery at the front end, as Hornby had added the air-smoothed casing ahead of the cylinders, which is not accurate for a late-liveried Bulleid. Strange, as the catalogue photo shows the correct version.

I don't understand why Hornby felt they had to copy bachmann with Tornado. Bachmann's is amazing and not worth copying. Funny they've released the B1 as well, which I thought Bachmann had done as well. I'm very excited about the Brighton Belle, wince they redid their pullmans it was only a matter of time before they released it. The network rail measurement train looks interesting as well though. Coaches wise the Hawksworth are good to see in the flesh, and the suburban grelseys make a change. No sign of the promised pullman C van. Interesting to see the new 4-4-0's in the railroad range of the LMS compound, a county and a hunt.

My Dad got me 53809 and I have to say the model is superb, especially the cab interior detail. Disappointed about the Hornby 2011 range, really was hoping for a model of 32424 or a H class or an Adams Radial Tank.

I think we should look to Dapol for the Radial tank, to be honest. Maybe Kernow will commission them to do one next year.

I'm quite pleased with the revitalising of the back catalogue - with a decent chassis the 2P and 4F will stand up next to modern locos quite well, and frankly at Railroad prices a Compound and a County will be hard to resist.

Very pleased with the Brighton Belle, I hope that it will have properly shaped carriages as they are quite different from normal Pullmans. A B1 will be nice, as Bachmann's was getting a bit tired, and a decent-motored pug with DCC will be pleasant for all those minimum size layouts - our narrow gauge friends will also be happy I'm sure that the old body will become somewhat cheaper for bashing onto a smaller gauge!

The LNER suburban carriages are a good addition to the range - can we have some suburban stock for the other three now? Still waiting on some decent GWR carriages too - Hawksworths are all very well but do not suit my 30s GW collection!

Have to concur with the learned gents above that an A1 is a complete waste of time and tooling. Hornby's detail is I think better than Bachmann's these days, although Bachmann are catching up, but that's not enough for me to trade in my perfectly serviceable 60163 and 60156. Perhaps it's for those people who (cutting off their nose to spite their face, in my opinion) have such brand loyalty that they won't go near anything but Hornby?

The most interesting addition to the range is probably the DCC software - will it stand up to the alternatives?
