Apart from the Bluebell and the Llangollen, what other Railways have they been paired up please?

There was a lot of discussion around Steam Steel & Stars, and subsequent events, that the repaint to BR black was for a limited period. Any indication of how long 9017 will remain in this livery?

I believe it may be staying in BR black now for the rest of it's ticket as the workshop lads are too busy repairing the running fleet and overhauls.

Looking on the MHR web site today. I see 6024 has joined the line up for next years spring gala. Looks like it’s turning in to a GWR event.

I'm sure there are a lot of people like me out there who have not seen these two locos together - I'm looking forward to this gala

    Smiff,

Don't forget that (and this is fantastic news) that 5224 may also be available now that the boiler is back in ticket.

So that's Truro, 9017, 5224 and 6024 (and 92212 is a Swindon engine too). With any luck that horrible "flat top" can watch from the sidelines. ;)

    GWR rules! Yippee!!

It's great to see that 6024 is coming back to the MHR next year. She was very welcome last time and very popular. During her last visit I became a club 60-24 member as I was very impressed by her/him?.

Surprised to see 5224 in the line up as I was told she had been withdrawn for a heavy overhaul.

Clearly Wadebridge will be waiting and watching from the sidelines...ready to rescue the GWR stuff when it gets stuck on the bank.

Excellent my Dad and I haven't seen 6024 since it last visited the Mid-Hants so it'll be good to see that loco again. If 5224 does make the line-up hopefully at some point it'll double-head with the 9017 on the goods train. Just to make a cheeky comment now, I see on the the link provided that it states "photo opportunities planned". Does this mean now that with all these visiting locos planned us photters are finally going to be able to buy a day lineside pass again? - I think I can guess the answer to this though

I have absolutely nothing against photographers, but I sincerely hope the railway will not be selling lineside passes again, unless the purchasers are prepared to undertake MHR PTS training, and be escorted by qualified lookouts. I don't see how you can say that anyone working on or about the line needs to comply with these requirements, but photographers don't. Alternatively the railway could establish "blue zones" - areas roped off from the railway at various accessible locations that are places of safety from which phots could be taken.
The reason the railway stopped doing the passes was because of the antics of photographers at a gala event (albeit I'm not sure they were pass holders in fairness).

That is actually a very good idea regarding "blue zones". Two zones near the lineside I can think of is the cattle crossing between Ropley and Medstead and the public fp crossing between Alresford and Ropley would benefit the railway and photters. If a warden was at each area with a collecting bucket us photters can put some money in and in return we can take some lineside phots whilst the warden can make sure no idiots do anything silly.

    Well said young David.

I am all for the "photters" who play their part in supporting the Railway though it is always the few who usually spoil it for the many.

I hope that the management are watching this thread.

This has previously been suggested and people have offered to help police such areas.

Let's hope all three GWR locos will be smoke box out of Alesford. I can't remember having four GWR locos working on the MHR together before?

smiff, i know that at least one full timer would like to see only GWR engines permently,

when do the boiler tickets for 3440 and 9017 expire? because when you get a certain other 4-4-0 finished in about 2 years time, they and another certain ex MHR 4-4-0 would certainly be a draw, 3 NRM 4-4-0'S working together , has that ever been done before? and might that just maybe be a good move?
