This is all to do with the way the sentence is worded. The running time will be hard to better. But the stops can be reduced in length so it could arrive at Edinburgh quicker from London than the Clarkson do.

I booked on the the Friday circular last week when there were only three seats left in standard. The next day they were all gone.

I stand corrected then. And this is with an extra stop at Stevenage. So that might actually mean we will get to Edinburgh in daylight assuming we are still leaving at 0830. Remarkable... and well done to the schedulers in NR who deserve a pat on the back rather than what they normally get from us lot.

Are they really going to get in and out of Tyne Yard in 20minutes?

Yes, 20 minutes at a stand taking water (and coal?) may be OK, but 12 minutes for 10 miles from passing Durham to stopping at Tyne Yard does seem a tad optimistic - it normally takes that time to just crawl through the yard to the servicing point. Having said that, they are very good timings and I look forward to enjoying the attempt to keep to them.

Its a shame they didn't advertise it as a high speed run, I would have saved some holiday for it if I had known. Fingers crossed it all goes to plan for those who lhave a seat.

Was there supposed to be a Stevenage stop? Certainly no mention of one in the original advert.

Yes it definitely calls at Stevenage so that makes the running time to Grantham even more interesting.

Well I have not yet been converted to a Tornado fan yet, wrong colour for starters and wrong designer for another, but I have moved slightly in the matter of green and copper, so who knows.
Oh and yes I am on board for the southbound run.
Trip of the year, well there is 6233 to Stirling and 5043 on the S&C to consider for the honours, but it may well get a podium. :third:

Not forgetting 'The Bristolian' - must be a worthy contender (I'm not a big GWR fan by any means).

O.K. I was speaking tung in cheak so to speak.I think you will find Beattock on Friday and Shap on Saturday quite interesting. The thing about this one is the way it is timed.I just hope that it is kept.
As far as the best trip of the year, well the East Bound Bristolian will take a lot of beating. But do remember the load and the grade on that route.
This one is a different baby entirely as far as grade and load is concerned.
I am not really a GW fan but what they did on the day was exceptional.I was not on it because I thought it was a bit expensive for a one way trip.
