Probably so as not to give away the performance effects of the superb streamlining work carried out on her over the last few months at Tyseley.

Well with the 12 oclock April Fools deadline a few minutes away can I say thanks to all those who took part in this and apologise to those who got upset.

As the well known saying goes.......................

    APRIL FOOL!!!

Erm.............doesnt the 'trick' have to be 'played' on April 1st to count as a genuine April fool ? My bet is that those who got upset are claiming they knew all the time! * Boards all windows and doors*

I think most of us may have come to the conclusion that this was a prank a while back. Still, it raised an interesting discussion about the GWR's attempt at streamlining...

You'd have thought that with it being Easter as well as 1st April, they'd at least have mocked it up in chocolate for a video shoot :biggrin1:

When we got back to Tyseley from Salisbury this evening it was a bit of a surprise to see 5029 in light steam sitting on the turntable with a Class37 diesel in close attendance sitting on the middle road. I wonder why?

the fact that the page in question was/is "www.5029nunneycastle.co.uk/Streamlined Castle April 1st spoof.htm" did give something of a clue!

UKsteam now showing correctly E+D+C, I don't think UKsteam would deliberately give the wrong info because if people thought 5029 was being dragged by a diesel, they would be less likely to go & see it. I presume the plan was changed last minute.

In his defence, David at UKSteam can only put up what people tell him, as the saying goes, don't shoot the messenger.
