    Hi all,

Reading this months Railway Magazine I was amazed to read that 3905 is being used at Chart Leacon’s for shunting other units about the depot. Apart from 1497/1498 and 3417 is there any other units still being used in depot’s.

    Thanks

Ps the last day for 1497/1498 on the Lymington branch will be 22 May.

Please note that does not mean they will be running every day upto the 22nd.....

158 are being introduced from next month ...

3417 is no longer used as a depot shunter, mores the pity.

Did try to do this last year. Trundled down to Brokenhurst after the Eastleigh open day hoping to catch 1498 only to find a new unit on. The guard that day seemed to think it was regular for the new units to be on at the weekend, is this so?

    Cheers

Wessex rail gen (Yahoo group) is always good information for what is running on the Lymington branch.

So my plan to go to Lymington to see the 3-Cigs during my week off in March might be a waste of time? I don't see point of joining a group just for one bit of information and then fogeting about it afterwards...

Oh I,m sure it wont be a waste of time....As you are a volunteer at Swanage (not too far from the Lymi branch) I am sure that there must be someone down there who might know when the Cigs are running.

Where are these Ladies due to go after Lymington? Are they going into Bruce Knights Capable hands for him to get fit for mainline use? Or are they going elsewhere?

    Time will tell i guess.

Going by Bruce's posts on WNXX he is (or was) considering it, but both are in pretty poor condition and it's hard to see where the money they need to go mainline will come from.

That might be differcult as I not 'starting' again this year until afterward the intended trip out (I do Tuesdays)! I might try and get hold of someone though...

Pop down last Wednesday, just on the off chance. Was rewarded with the sight of 'Freashwater', the blue and grey one. Mentioned to guard that 'I surpose you be glad to see the back of these things' and he siad, 'no, they alright, old girls (or something afectent like that)...

3912 is also at Chart Leacon with 3905. Don't know whether it gets used though, I've only even seen 3905 in action shunting bits of classs 460s around when they've come down for, I think, C4 or C6 overhauls in the past.

Suprised no one's mentioned 1881 and her alleged final trip on Wednesday yet.

I was tempted but guessed the amount of froth generated would have been unbearable, at least on WNXX there has been some sensible debate among a number of the key players in the project.
