If it's as good as the 2006 centenary gala, it'll be well worth attending!

Any chance of a Castle renumbering or two ?, 7037 Swindon, 7017 G J Churchward, 7007 Great Western, 5070 Sir Daniel Gooch, 5069 Isambard Kindom Brunel, 5066 Sir Felix Pole or 4000 North Star all would seem appropriate possibilities.

Llangollen GWR175 event now moved to September 10-12 to coincide with Llangollen 35 years (September 13 1975 marks the first ever passenger train).

I am sure you can obtain nameplates and numbers to put on your Castle!

Why would you want to change the names?

For something different if nothing else, plus those selected seem appropriate for a GWR celebration.

Just an FYI - a set of name and number plates cost close to 2k to make, so it would have to make significant financial sense to do it.

Please remember that in the world of vintage reailways there is very rarely any spare monies around to spend on "niceties".

It's the same with painting an engine. It would be lovely to re-paint them every different livery from Sunday - BUT it either has to significantly peek the public's interest and sell more tickets (painting 6233 LMS black should be a money-maker) or someone with a spare 20k has to REALLY want it done. Ultimatly, it comes down to this - he who puts up the cash gets what he wants!

Im well aware of the economics of different plates but there is no harm in making a suggestion is there, whether anyone takes any notice however is their perogative, i can't speak for the others but a set of plates for 5069 at least exists as 5051 wore them before it went out of ticket, certainly i'd think a loco named after the man named the 2nd greatest Briton would capture the public.

I rather suspect that you are going to have to make do with the name of the principal Cornish director of the Great Western Railway.

Even if you change the name plates you still know that it’s the other locomotive, surely you should be happy with the locomotive that survived and are now running. I can understand wanting to see locomotive in different liveries but as for name changing and numbering I personally can’t see the point.

The only time I though it was a good idea was when 60019 was painted and numbered as silver link 2509.

Yes we know what's missing. The main thing to realise is that all the announced events so far are on preserved lines or at preservation centres, which are all self contained entities.
Vinatge trains has to work with the co-operation of Network Rail, TOC's and WCRC and therefore the planning process is a lot more difficult.
In this case patience is a virtue which I'm sure will be rewarded very soon.

Never claimed anything to the contrary, i was thinking personally more in terms of historical/publicity reasons, i'll still enjoy the occasion(s) regardless of the loco's plates.
