Personally i'd use it as a mobile advertising hoarding . Nice flat side , easy to apply vinyls , fantastic .Hopefully the brighter , more colourful the advert the better and it would contribute pot loads to the overhaul costs and improve the economics of main line steam

It could be far worse , could be the 6024 water carrier

It's only trains. Get over it.

sorry for coining your little tagline but it seemed rather appropriate after that little outpouring

  4. :smt048 Heh heh, no worries mate, any time.

I'm sorry if that perspective offends anyone but, despite having been a railway enthusiast of varying degrees for the best part of 40 years, I have never been able to take it so desperately seriously that anything really offends me. It's just a hobby and hobbies are supposed to be a way of enjoying yourself and taking your mind off the everyday shyte that life throws at you.

The latter is what my (considerable!) reserves of indignation, frustration and anger are for, not trains.

Stick another tender on it, give it air brakes, paint it pink with purple spots for all I care - it's a piece of history which still exists and I'm just grateful for those who have put so much hard work and money into ensuring that it does still exist.

Sounds like a good idea for a new TV programme - "Pimp my Chuffer" \:D/

All this hot air is very interesting, but what does the 2nd tender / water carrier actually look like. I've not seen it in the flesh, so to speak, and there does not seem to be any pictures of it on this thread.

Can anyone upload a pic and enlighten me?

  10. Of course it is. Someone's giving your chain a sly tug... :smt001

Must admit I'm a little surprised that there hasn't been more pointless hot air expended about a BR(E) liveried loco having a BR(W) liveried support coach. I mean, there are people who that kind of thing offends... #-o

Except of course it's not strictly BR(W) liveried. It's lined out and named in the style of a Pullman car. Anyway it's simple job in Photoshop to remedy the livery. :smt003

I can't see what the problem is or why everyone is moaning about it. Now having actually seen a picture i can't see why everyone is moaning like they are.

But there is a simple solution to all the moaning and that is for everyone who doesn't like the two tender look can dig deep in there pockets and pay for the water Troughs to be reinstalled along selected routes.
