I have no records of 45353 working passenger trains at the end of 1967. It did, however, work the 09.05 Euston-Blackpool forwardfrom Preston on 24/01;01/02;24/02;and 08/05/1968 and the 17.25 Glasgow-Liverpool from Preston on 26/01;and 01/03/1968. The latter would have been in darkness and the former were unlikely to be 10 coaches.A football special is the likely answer.

One of the fotters out on 26-12-1967, who is a friend of mine, has now examined his negs of photos taken that day and can confirm all the info is correct ... that is, apart from proof that 45353 went on to Leeds from Manchester! The identical leak from the steam heating pipe in Paul Riley's picture is also in his and the coaches match too. He was in fact about half a mile nearer Poulton. He has no info as to the actual departure time, but thinks it was circa 2.15 ex Blackpool North 3.30 M/chr, so dark onwards.
70013 must have left Blackpool South, after the match, at around 5.30.
