Steam on the Yorkshire Coast Line?

    No, at least, not yet.
    The line from Hull to Scarborough was banned for loco hauled trains some years ago but it is now back on the charter train map. The first loco hauled passenger train will run this coming Saturday (25th July) - details here.
    So, how about it steam railtour operators, when will we have the first steam hauled charter back on this route?

    It can't have been banned that long? i've been on it with steam twice in the last 7 years?

    4 years? But yes,great line it would be nice to do it again.

    I think the ban came in during Summer 2005 mainly due to state of track south of Bridlington.

    Yeah,i seem to recall a lot of engineering in January/February?

    I often wondered why steam was so scarce on this route. Looks interesting. A gradient between Bridlington and Filey. Humanby Bank I think its called.

    Yes,Humanby is a fairly rateable climb.

    As is the climb from Bridlington through Flamborough.
