The Railway Touring Company say on their website that 70013 hauls the train throughout. Can anyone confirm this or is it just one way?

70013 needs to be in London for the 16th trip so i'd say its both ways.

It’s a shame I had not noticed the change of route earlier. Certainly would like to do the trip, but with the late booking means a day in the buffet. Not really that ideal and is putting me off. Hopefully there is a chance of a rerun over this route.

What time?! I'm glad I'm working nights next Friday. Finish work at 6am, drive up to somewhere between Bletchley and Bedford, then go home and go to bed!

Timings now up on UK steam. It's a VERY long day, 18 hours if you join at Watford, and the support crew will need their sleep afterwards!

i think the last time steam ran along the Marston Vale line( Bedford - Blechley ) was a pair of standard tanks going south to be in place for the Fenchstreet to Shoeburyness trips a few years ago

Not exactly the fastest stretch of the tour but possibly the rarest. Early start means I can get to see it in the Marston Vale before starting work. \:D/

Was it really ten years ago?
Round about the same time one of the standard tanks also ran a day of passenger trains between Bedford & Bletchley.

Almost certainly i'd say, the frequency Virgin run at south of Rugby dictates pretty much all else is on the slow.

Yeah but with a 6.10 start on a Saturday there's only one conflicting movement as far as I can see, a Glasgow I think Euston 0605.

Crossed the Grand Union Canal, north of Kings Langley, at approx 06:16, running on slow lines.
Weather very dull and trying to drizzle, not good for photos.
Train did not appear to be very full.

Light absolutely dire in the Marston Vale but here's a shot anyway of Olly at Millbrook.
Before anyone screams TRESPASS, I'm sat on a stile at a foot crossing.

Here is my photograph of 70013 going north at 06:16 this morning. Taken between Kings Langley and Aspley, just north of the bridge over the Grand Union Canal and just south of the bridge over the A4251 (old A41). Very difficult to find any locations in these parts, which are not covered in undergrowth or security fencing. This is really an afternoon location as the shot would have been into the sun, had it been out.
Not one of my better photographs, but I expected it to be worse.

    Approaching Ridgmont station.

Climbing up to Sharnbrook summit at Souldrop. Both taken in varying degrees of drizzle.
