Gresley N2 Tank 1744, I believe made its test run from Loughborough to Rothley/Leicester North on 30th/31st May 2009. It is hoped we have it out for the 1940's War Weekend on the 13th/14th June 2009

It's good to see one of the few LNER tank engines moving again. Well done to all involved.

Nine posts, and no-one has mentioned BR black yet! Is this a record?

I think the green gives the livery away slightly.

I kbnow its going to be GNR green - but rthats thwe point where the photographers start to moan the it would be "more marketable" (to them) in BR black.

Since when has Freshfield been a bank? OK, it might be to a Terrier but to any other loco it is neither here nor there!

Visiting fireman; "So where's this Freshfield bank then?"

    "Back there."

Looks at water level, pressure gauge and fire; "Oh..."

Anyhoo, nice job guys. That's a good looking loco, and nice to see something a bit different on the l*very front.

Paint job all but complete with the numbers and GNR emblem being applied onto the locomotive last night. Shouldnt be too long now before a return to service in the near future but not at the 1940's GCR gala.

Better not show them Bodmin then Stewie, they'd have heart failure!!!!!!

Seriously though, well done with the N2 and I echo Stewie's comments on the livery.

GNR Green will look good on it. You people'll have to get Captain Howey's (sp?) loco out of Shildon for a photo op.

If you're thinking of GNR no.1247, it was purchased for preservation by Capt. WG Smith. Captain Howey was a co-founder of the RH&DR.
