Well I see the times for the 1st day are out. Looks like 19 gets pretty much the same schedule as 7 last year for the first leg. That’ll be good.

It looks like 7 is being asked for some outstanding work on the leg into Scotland. Although the times on UK steam are a little confused about Newcastle, if 15:42 from Type Yard is correct to get to Berwick at 16:48 that’s just 66 minutes. That's an average of 64mph including the slowings through Newcastle and at Berwick. That's also 9 minutes faster than 60163 did it a couple of weeks ago and that was a blistering run over that section. Probably impossible but it'll be interesting.

Edit: I see times are now updated on uksteam confirming 15:42 departure.

When in York the only food choice for the discerning is Hudsons - a couple of scufflers and you won't need to eat again that day - and the quality is second to none!

Out of the station - through NER HQ and turn right on Tanner Row- There's a ginnel about half way to the brewery on the same side - Trot up there and Hudsons is on the immediate left at the end - it really is the best fodder in York - Trust me!

and I wish I could take up those tickets - but I have been called to a meeting in Chatham which is somewhat do or die! Let's hope its not the latter.

60019 won't be making it to the first leg unfortunately. Enough time to arrange a substitute though.

Presumably because of the problem found with one of the saftey valves, reported on the MHR website. I'm guessing that Tornado is most likely to cover for Bittern. Look out for a late-notice L/E move from York to London?

We were told on Sunday that there was a question mark over Bittern and that Tornado was on standby to do the first leg.

As you say, I'm sure Ron would love to have a go with Tornado, but, as has been discussed before, West Coast don't/won't operate Tornado, so The Coronation is a DB Schenker operation.

Tornado has been on the roster for The Coronation from the beginning, running the last leg from York to Kings Cross. However, I can see that there might be logistical problems getting her down to London in time for Saturday morning, at such short notice. Isn't she at Grosmont at the moment?

What are the alternatives? Ollie is busy in East Anglia. How about Tangmere? She might struggle a bit with the tight timings, but would be a worthy substitute. OVSB was one of Gresley's deputies, after all. If no steam is available, is there a Deltic with a mainline ticket at the moment?

60007 and 60163 are booked to move from NYMR to NRM on Friday morning, but I guess that could change if 60163 is needed in London for Saturday morning.

Understand 60163 may now move on Thursday to London.
