The post on the MHR site just says that an engine new to the MHR is due to arrive next week - I don't think it says that it is a gala visitor arriving, so it could be a new long term resident and not necessarily in working order atm. Chew on that!

What if the stuff about being a tank engine, and BR black livery are but red herrings?

    Tornado anyone?

At least it is new to the line!

Then why did 5944 who apparently knows what it is say it is in his favourite livery.... I can only assume one of you is spreading rumours for the sake of it... ](*,)

This is all getting very confusing, first it was in Riley's favourite colour and now it isn't. It is now being stated that it is in a livery suited to Didcot so It would be reasonable to assume it's now GW Green, I assume the confusion isn't Mr Riley deciding what his favourite colour is!!! \:D/

So back to the thinking board I assume it is still a tank or has it now sprouted a tender!

    OK next guess, 4247? :-k

It's not been confirmed yet the MHR website say it WILL be arriving next week... if that isn't a confirmation then i don't know what is. And what is the point in guessing when people who do know won't confirm anything? Bit of a waste of time. Anyway, i see the MHR lads are finding this whole guessing game rather amusing. Why does that not surprise me. :-k Think i'm going to wait and see what the website says.

We all know why Kieran, it,s because these childish little boys think it,s fun to wind everyone up.
I feel ashamed sometimes that we belong to the same Railway.

    Regards

I think you need to be fair on them. I think they're loco department people so they would know about the loco and the point about information being released is totally fair. Until the MHR have released the details to the public then you can't expect them to go around saying stuff. Like they say they'd get in trouble if they let out information without permission, maybe the MHR want to keep it a surprise for us... Please remember - the youth are the future of all the railways so please don't go shooting us down with comments like that when people are being reasonable!!!

Back onto topic - 4247 is possible but the B+W have their family fun weekend then, so with long trains I imagine that they will need 4247 around then.

Bit of ashame really , disclose the engine , get shot down , speculate , get shot down . it makes you wonder why people bother

and before anyone shoots me the railway have publicly stated on their website that an unspecified engine is running . So what do you expect ? silence or rampant conjecture

maybe it's time to explore the works ?

Well I would hope for an 80XXX tank, but I think it might be a GWR tank...

if playing guess the engine is the game poeple on this forum want us to play, maybe we should just not rise to the bait and just leave it well alone. Leave speculation and wait for the official news from a more reliable source.....

I personally think its good that the lads from MH are not giving the game away and are not rising to the criticism that has been leveled at them. The youth need to be encouraged. I can tell you that it is not 6695 even though an inquiry was made.

Nobody has said it will be an ex mainline loco... there's plenty of industrials it could be! The MHR really would have the last laugh if an 0-4-0ST turned up after all of this frothing! \:D/

Queue the 'industrials couldn't get over the alps' stuff!
