It was the Bluebell Bulleid set, but I believe its now just WCR Mk1s due to gauging issues in the Hull area

A cold frosty morning greets No. 44932 as it pulls away from Carnforth passed the old Midland Shed heading a steam special to Hull, Mick Kelly driving, Craig Todd firing and Matt Miller Guard. A misty Warton Crag prominent in the background

Went through Wressle bang on time. Some green Mark 1s some WCR maroon ones and a class 47 on the back which seemed to be doing all the work.

Do we know when it is due to return?

1st, 2nd and 4th coaches in the consist are Bulleids, not Mark 1s.

It must be for "Blitz", an Apple TV Film.

    From the Yorkshire Post site:
"Steve McQueen's Blitz, to be released by Apple, will tell the story of how Londoners survived the German bombing campaign. Saoirse Ronan will star alongside Josef Altin, of Top Boy, along with Stephen Graham and Kathy Burke.

But once again, Hull’s Old Town is standing in as a historic version of the capital. Several shops in the city's Victorian Hepworth Arcade are being refitted to turn the clock back to the 1940s."

I wonder if the British Railways on the Black Five tender will be disguised?

And the number! Apart from the extra "4", she was not built until September 1945. Not that your average Apple viewer will notice or even care I imagine. (No insult intended).

Somebody must be taking an interest for them to go to the hassle of roading Bulleid carriages up from Sussex to Carnforth for the contract, unless its as simple of needing green stock and it being cheaper to take 3 up the country than paint 3 Mk1's in Lancashire?

There’s probably not much in it? I’m assuming that if West Coast had to repaint some of its stock into green, then they’d want it repainted back into red after the filming job was done?
How much does it cost to repaint a coach to a decent standard these days? Probably just as cheap to hire the stock in from elsewhere without it being detrimental to your own business.

Maybe it's a continuity thing - has there been any filming at the Bluebell with the stock, or has it been used in studios anywhere recently? It's Apple so money is pretty much no object, and the cost of a few low loaders will be peanuts compared to the rest of the budget for the film.

Netflix are currently making a programme about the 6888th and using Duxford for some of the filming. The museum is still open, though with one hangar closed off, but the airfield is closed to all aircraft for 5 days next week.

Some of the Mk1s based at Bounds Green many years ago had a temporary repaint into green for filming, using water based paint that should've come off in the carriage wash. It didn't! Cue lots of cleaners carefully scrubbing it all off by hand without damaging the original paint underneath.

    Quite right about the number!
In a lot of filming jobs involving Steam locomotives the period accuracy is a little off.
Two examples of doing it right are:
The superb Shadowlands starring Anthony Hopkins. This was filmed at the GCR using a very grubby 45231 & 7029 in the correct liveries for the 1950's setting.

Also a more recent film, Living, starring Bill Nighy which features 80151 on the Bluebell (and with a bit of trickery 80151 also appears at a London Terminus).

Trickery that involved filming at Brighton and then splicing in images of 80151 from the Bluebell.
