Thought it would be good to have a thread for steam engines returning to mainline this year.

We had 34067, 60007 and 70000 all return to action last year.

During 2022 considerable progress was made on 6024 King Edward 1. There has also been good discussion on 5043.

one other locomotive doesn’t need mention because it turns 100.

Anything new on 70013 and 71000?

    44932 also returned during 2022.

During 2023 - 62005 should return along with 60163 Tornado.

Thanks for correction. 44932 test runs and 1 tour in 2022 down the Cumbrian coast. Glad to hear 62005 is making progress. Thank you

Wonder if we might see 44767 this year?

An update last summer said the loco "has to be ready for the S&D celebrations in 2025", so I'm guessing even then might be tight. It was completely stripped for it's last overhaul, far more than was needed according to the previous owner. The frames were just that, two pieces of metal. Everything else was removed, including the cylinders.

I believe that it has the overhauls of Galatea and possibly 48151 ahead of it in the queue?

The n2 is due back this year I believe and was supposed to have mainline gubbins on to go to Cromer. I don't think the NNR are running to Cromer this year so the loco may not actually run on the mainline.

70013 Oliver Cromwell has its chassis largely overhauled and its boiler is due back in the next few months, so it should be back in service this year.

44806 should be back for mainline running to Whitby. (A bit of a cheat I know!)

Thinking 6024 going to Crewe might be an indication of its return. Saying this without elaboration.
