I have yet to enjoy a ride on the ELR. It's right at the top of heritage lines I hope to visit one day. I too therefore hope that 34092's return won't be too long to wait as this is just the incentive I need to make the journey. However, speaking as someone who lives over 200 miles south of Bury, I'm most grateful to the ELR for allowing this fine loco to visit areas closer to its former stamping grounds (and a lot closer to my home!). In the last five years, it has visited the Swanage, Mid Hants, Bluebell and Spa Valley Railways and has been very well received on all four lines. A big thank you therefore from me and doubtless from plenty of other Bulleid fans down here in the South.

What locos does the ELR have available now that Wells and 5643 have bowed out? Hasn't 80097 been withdrawn as well? The only ones I can think of that are still operable there are the A class, the Lanky 0-6-0 saddle tank and the Pug - am I missing any?

Is Gothenburg still in ticket too? Not sure if 47298 is still there either, as that was rumoured to be going to a private line.

5643' s boiler ticket finally expired on 8th Jan (its last steaming was 27th Dec.) and the loco will shortly be returning to the FRT at Preston.

Not my photo, one from Facebook.
For anyone who knows it, 'The Cobblers' behind the signalbox in Rawtenstall has gone up in flames today!

Have read elsewhere that 'Lady of Legend' has had problems and is being returned to Didcot. Can anyone confirm?

It does seem as though it's leaking steam from every possible orifice though. It doesn't look or sound particularly well from what I've seen.
