Best confirmation from someone outside would be a fire lit on Monday evening...

I guess it may need to be in steam for an FTR on Monday as it is due off quite early on Tuesday morning.

  6. I for one welcome the return of this fine locomotive.

Time for all recriminations and bad comments to be put aside and applaud the fact that she will be back in steam!

Looking forward to seeing her around Dorridge or Lapworth on Tuesday morning. Hopefully she will be up to speed at Lapworth as will be held in the loop at Dorridge for a while.

Is that because it's the nearest thing to a King on the main line at the moment.
Apparently Lizzie failed her EWS (or what ever they call themselfs these days) audit a few weeks back.

That's a bit under the belt, as the above comment came from one of the 6024 crew.

And after todays revalations about Lizzie not being able to run on the Great Britain 11, I bet Worall and the train spotters left running her wish Roy was still in charge...idiots!... ](*,)

  11. Yes, thats not a very friendly post to make, especially when what I said was entirely genuine. I have a great fondness for 6201, which has nothing whatever to do with 6024! =;

    Hi Martin

No, I think it is for Mojonnier or Worall (Cabman), both whom are Crewe Heritage Centre trustees, to explain their incompetence...their direct actions left Roy Kerry no option but to resign his post as the Loco's engineer.....their legacy is now deafening!

I also believe at some stage the Duchess team were asked if they would be prepared to be standby loco but for some reason declined. :-k

Just to put the record straight. In my previous posts I was supporting all those who work on restoring steam locos despite the constant bashing they get from the armchair brigade experts!!

Good to hear Lizzie is getting back into full health.

Maybe they should have been asked in the first place, with 6201 as reserve.

Full health??? - Is that really appropriate at a time when it's just failed an examination and is missing another booking and letting so many people down in the process?

You don't seem to know who spends a significant amount of their time in an armchair and who doesn't. I suspect that you spend more time pontificating from your own armchair than many that you glibly accuse of not being physically active. In actual fact it's largely the very people who do get stuck in who can see what is going wrong and resort to pointing that out on forums like this.

After your rabid defence of those 'hard working' people at Southall, It was quite ironic to read the quote from Bressingham's Howard Stephens recently in the press to the effect that one of the problems they had with 6100 was that they were "unable to crack the whip with volunteers". Most people know that was far from the reality, but I'm afraid you rather overdid the argument that everything was tickety boo. What should have been said was something along the lines of - we've totally failed to crack the whip with overpaid cash guzzling monsters who've bled the project dry. That's all I ever tried to point out on that particular thread, apart from the fact that the standard of work is generally appalling, which you and one or two others seem completely blind to.

It doesn't matter how hard anyone works on Lizzie, 6100 or anything else. If it's mismanaged on the scale that has been happening, it's just pouring too much effort into something that needs a fundemental review. Sometimes just beavering away regardless just papers over the cracks and doesn't get to the heart of the issues that need to be resolved. Fortunately 6100 has taken a step in the right direction, though I've no idea how the half million pounds or so of wasted resources is ever going to be recovered. Sadly with 6201 the situation is far from resolved, in spite of the irony of the two engines being in the same locality.

So, what is wrong with 6201 now?

It has failed its Fitness to Run examination for mainline and will be unable to participate in Great Britain II. Tangmere to substitute. Details of failure or how serious unknown.
