So I see. Apologies! Big chufferitis being somewhat pandemic it is very easy to assume it is everywhere.

Somewhat pandemic? Are you implying big chufferitis is a plague? :)

I recall a recent post which helpfully indicated that the remains of the boiler have been used in the restoration of another 8F. Incidentally l posted the following reply to your previous Barry Ten post but it seems to have been amalgamated with it , my apologies.
A very welcome post devoid of the misinformation (or is it disinformation?) that many have felt the need to trot out on NP.
It is all deliberately confusing and l am glad someone has confirmed that the wikipedia entry about the wheels was a mistake. It seems this loco is coming on in leaps and bounds now and , unlike many, is nearly fully funded.

Wasn't there supposed to be a Dean goods boiler in an outbuilding, used as a stationary hot water source for boiler washouts? Have never seen it myself but if it was there in GWS times I would imagine that it still is. But I also have a recollection that it is regarded as part of the fabric of the building under the terms of the lease and so could not be removed. Presumably someone will have all the answers!

It is about ensuring that motive power does not consume more resources than it has to.

ISTR that was the case at Didcot. There is another ex Dean Goods boiler which was obtained, from the KWVR?, by the group restoring 9629 for use on their loco. Later they managed to obtain a pannier boiler (might even have been 9629's own) and put the Dean boiler up for sale. I can't recollect hearing anything since then apart from one of Stuart Reader's half-baked schemes to build a Dean Goods.

Slight memory jog there. Is there still an Adams A12/T1 boiler at the Avon Valley? Just checked back on one old thread and nowt for the past four years.

It has been sat in Bitton yard for many years. My understanding is that it is owned privately, not by the AVR.

    Photographed in 2021.

Is that a genuine new build or just another GWR pick and mix?

I am pleased to say that much of this loco has genuine history, not an all new metal replica. Reusing old loco parts in new ones has always been a genuine GWR speciality, some people seem to have a very poor grasp of GWR practice . I noticed that one of the Hawksworth County's axleboxes had been previously used on five different classes of loco. The far sighted practice of standardisation is still paying dividends !
