This was mentioned on uk-rail yesterday:

''The WCML is currently closed between Nuneaton and Litchfield. 5Z55 Southall - Crewe consisting of 47805+47501 and stock.
One of the 47s is reported to be on fire between Amington Junction and Tamworth LL. Fire services are enroute or are at the scene now (17:15)''.

''National Rail showing line re-opened by 9pm''.

Note that the train was stopped for nearly four hours but then continued to Crewe. Let's hope that there is minimal damage to the loco. <BJ>

With the events that have taken place, very glad that 70000 Britannia is in steam this year. Welsh Marches this week, having taken place before yesterday. Was also remembering the January 2012 run with the Royal Train.

I wonder if this will run like solo like last year. With the 40 going home via the Marches, there is no insurance waiting at Bromsgrove.

Yes it did Liam, it was behind the Class 40 on the way down. The load was 10 coaches so 11 coaches for the Black Five and the Brit up the Lickey. Looking forward to it.:)

The five was working flat out up the Lickey, though no idea about the Brit as it vigorously blew off all the way up bank and kind of ruined the spectacle from a sound point of view.

The Five & the Brit making good progress up the 1/38, the sound from the Five is definitely more audible especially in the going away shots near the top. Great to see the generator making an appearance and just the one mark 2 !
