An "interesting" video here (not mine). Being actively discussed on another rail site.

This seems to be causing quite some debate on the WNXX forum.

And so it should. A shame it was put on YouTube, I would have just sent a copy to Saphos.
More than one fireman has been killed doing this

WNXX suggests there is more than just the one video?

One is enough. The authorities will be all over this

There is one of the train passing, I think, Dawlish, though the actions are less obvious.

Guess the coal was crap with too much small stuff holding it together. Still doesn't justify dangerous actions like that 'on the move'.

Who knows but this is a train that left Kingswear just 20 miles back after a layover and service. So what on earth were they doing on the DSR to replenish the tender and trim the coal?

One consignment delivered to Stewart’s Lane congealed into a solid mass so the coal spray was used on it, maybe their’s came from the same source but as you say, it’s no excuse.

Judging by how low he's standing in the tender, the coal is just over half full. Probably wouldn't have needed to take on coal at Kingswear, and no chance en route to move it forward (booked non-stop Paignton to Norton Fitzwarren), but it should've been shovelled as far forward as possible during the layover.

According to Railway Herald the Coronation Scot on September 24th with Class 40 and 6233 is cancelled. Saphos website shows fully booked. I know this is Railway Herald, but............. Anyone any info?

Isn't this the class 40 that's now under the wing of West Coast?

LSL have still got D213 (40013) on long term hire. It is D345 (40145) that no longer is

Believe it was announced when the PRCTL took over the overhaul of Hosking's 9F, that they were looking into Duchess being on LSL's books. If that's the case, isn't she the only steam locomotive to be on every Train Operator that operates steam (WCRC, DB, LSL, VT).

As I put in my post on wnxx neither of the two videos look like they were taken by enthusiasts to me. Just folks with a general interest or happened to be there.
Of course videos of all quality get posted on YouTube.

70000 to 'haul' the English Riviera Express from Taunton today. Class 47 expected to be behind the tender.

    UPDATE:
70000 leading, blue class 47 behind the tender, class 47 on the rear.

Britannia doing the lion's share of the work through Dawlish. <BJ>

I can now answer my own query. Received letter today. Coronation Scot cancelled due to operational constraints on the day, whatever that means. So much for Saphos customer care. I can transfer to another of their 1 day tours. As this was 3 days where do they get "another"?
