    A few clips from yesterday featuring 34046 hauling 'The Fellsman'. Seen passing Wilpshire Summit, Stainforth Tunnel, Lazonby, Long Strumble, Kirkby Stephen Station and Wilpshire Bank.

    Heard a rumour that the 2 LSL 20s will be on this on Wednesday due to the weather condition not improving the fire risk

    There is nothing wrong with a bit of variety. In my case these are as much a part of my "heritage" as steam, having originally seen them brand new. Was it really 65 or so years ago?

    I doubt that anybody watching the live pictures from Wennington last night, where peoples homes and vehicles were being consumed by fire, would criticise the use of diesel or electric locomotive power at the moment.

    With the weather being what it was, you probably got more visible exhaust from the 20s than you would from a steam loco at this time of year, fire risk or no. :)

    Presumably Mr Smith won't sell any of his Appleby water to Mr Hosking? :)

    Or more seriously, maybe the extra 30 odd miles from Appleby to Crewe compared to Horton in Ribblesdale to Crewe would stretch the tender's capacity?
