I am not on it but photographed it at Hook. It took NR a while to get to Hook so 35028 not affected. Down stoppers diverted to fast at Winchfield and no prospect of a train so caught a bus into Basingstoke.

Many factors could have caused a lineside fire although the presence of a steam engine makes it easy to point the finger . Diesel may be on more than notch 1 later especially with another hot dry day forecast

Ah OK, when you said we are stuck here I wrongly assumed you meant the train with you aboard. Do you have any thoughts as to whether '28 caused the fire? A good reason to put steam on the fast, further away from the line-side!;)

The DL was dead. The fire happened straight after Clan Line had passed and it was working very hard

Happy days! That was a superb run. The non-stop section from Eastleigh to London is something I will never forget. I joined the long queue of people who went to shake the hands of the crew at journeys end. I also travelled on the non-stop run with 34067 in 2011:

Naturally it would happen with all the tours today - all the extra movements have worn the signals out!

Looks like all the return charters are likely to be a bit late away this evening. National Rail estimating disruption to 1700 but think likely to still be ongoing issues for a while after that. However things are showing signs of getting back to more normal at Weymouth Stock for the Statesman to Norwich now in platform, so may be away not too late.

Clan Line between Maiden Newton and Dorchester West at the moment

    5Z29 ( Loco & POB) recently passed Dorchester Jn 31' L.

With luck the special should make a 1739 path from Weymouth crossing 1W71 at Dorchester South/Jn and looped for 1W30 (1803 WEY-WAT) at Wool.
If not the path works at 1809 from Weymouth.
(Once again the advantage of a "clockface" timetable. It makes recovery from incidents less complex.)

Good luck to the crew and support crew, it could be a long evening!

    Cheers, Neil

Clan Line and stock now in Platform 2 at Weymouth - quite a few alterations to SWT services being made so may get away not too late!

RTT says away 48L. Some potential to recover, especially if the half hour in Soton loop goes.

Statesman to Norwich over top of Parkstone Bank 40 minutes late - both 47s at front of train and under power and going well.

Is the stop in Southampton UGL not a water stop?
