I’m guessing you’ve tried the GCR for theirs?

K&ESR are well stocked this year with Swiftsure, Hastings and the J27 coming in on loan alongside 2 Terriers, the GWR Prairie and their own Austerity no.25... don't know if they'd loan any of their own out though. Presumably if they've hired in 3, they're gonna need them.

Taff Vale 85 at the Worth Valley spent a year or two on loan at Embsay pre-Covid... with Coal Tank 1054 back, they may be willing to hire 85 out again? Just guessing though.

Nice suggestion, Had a ride behind this loco recently at the KWVR. The Swindon and Cricklade has a working Taff vale 4 wheel coach, so would look good together.
    Picture of the loco here

Last photo I saw it was up on jacks with the wheels out.

That sent me scuttling straight off to the Vintage Carriages Trust website. To go with the only surviving std gauge loco built in Wales, it seems there are seventeen surviving TVR carriages, all bar two are listed 'body only'. An entire pre-grouping train from one of the smaller companies would be a sight to behold!

A quick look-see at the wagon side of the VCT register returned four TVR vehicles. A mineral wagon, safe on it's wheels, but OOS at Didcot, plus a 6w brake van body (no photo), listed 'at risk' and two van bodies, neither in the best order.

Might be an issue then, to be honest wasn’t sure what the current status was.

Just to be clear - Taff Vale O1 no. 28 is the only surviving standard gauge loco built in Wales. TVR 85 is an 02 and was built by Neilson for the Taff Vale Railway and subsequently worked for the LH&JC. I believe the Gwili Railway are working on TVR 28 and at least one TVR coach.

A further loco suggestion - WSR has a smallish industrial locomotive No. 1857 being near to completion at Williton works. Just a thought

Didcot aren't blessed with many working locos at the moment, I'd be suprised if they wouldn't want to keep it on site as spare- think only working steam currently are Trojan and 4079- 2999 is away, as is 4144.
