Just home after a long day with SNG. Not going to comment on any of the usual stuff. Sufficient to say thanks to the SNGLT for organising this at a special price for your members. The staff looking after diners were superb and the food excellent! Welcome back SNG. A brilliant day out :)

Well said. Sometimes it's not the quality of the journey but the destination that matters and today was all about the latter. By that I mean getting an iconic locomotive back on the main line has to trump everything else. And it was generous of West Coast to manage to delay its train so that some unique photographs could be captured at Carlisle! ;)

The last time something similar was possible was also planned, as below:

Fabulous day in the northern fells to see 4498 first shot at milepost 249 Blea Moor south tunnel what a magnificent sight and sound she made. Well done to the A4 Locomotive Society and my thanks for today.

Some from us, Brownhill leaving Blackburn, Helwith Bridge. First day of freedom after a short period of isolation after my heart surgery last Monday, so I didn't catch the plague!! My wife had to do the honours, can't drive until next week. Fish and chips from Settle, but in the lay-bye on way home instead of the restaurant, no restaurants/pub's/enclosed spaces for another good few days, wonderful!! There's a very slight leak past the regulator, which showed up during running in but isn't yet fixed. When standing at Carlisle after arrival, drain cocks were kept open to allow the leaking steam to escape.

Thanks Henry, it was pleasing to see the exhaust held for a lot of the clip.

Staying local I had 2 opportunities to catch the rarity of the Black Knight on its only tour on the main line before reverting to Garter Blue livery; scenes at Bamber Bridge and Euxton -

Nice shots Fred. I was surprised that you were not on the train as 'a long standing member of the SNGLT.'

A fantastic marthon day out to the S&C to see the A4's mainline return. My first time seeing the engine in steam and she did not disappoint! Captured departing Crewe, climbing towards Ais Gill at Selside, and (made possible by the late running of 46115) passing Penrith:

It was a day of firsts for myself. My first main line steam excursion and it was also my first trip over the Settle and Carlisle. I had a wonderful day out and very much enjoyed myself, the saphos staff were very friendly and helpful, a credit to their company. My thanks go to the society and saphos for making the trip possible. Special thanks must go to the engineering team for their hard work overhauling the locomotive over the past seven years, 4498’s performance yesterday was a testament to all of the hard work put in.

Not the best day I've had in return for a 500 mile round trip but worth it to see an A4 back in action. locations are Lunds Paddock and Great Strickland. A shame about missing 46115 but there will be other times for that.
The advantage of having a full frame camera came into its own as the Great Strickland where some heavy cropping was needed for the reason already alluded to.

Thanks to everyone for their pictures and video clips, circumstances meant a day at work yesterday, so no chance to chase.
