Yes I'm on the Pathfinder one, got the ticket today. Times for the pickups before Shrewsbury are 50mins earlier than expected but the departure from Shrewsbury is the expected path. The problem is TFW's new service 1J09 1029 Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth. You'll note for Friday it doesn't appear in journey planners or RTT, but does exist for every other weekday. So I believe TFW have removed it from the schedule for that one day to allow the charter to run.

one would presume that a timetabled path which runs the other days of the week is not given up without an alternative (bus) being offered which you would also presume has to be covered in ££££ terms

Very rare track and excellent fares, as you say. Rail Live is people who work in the rail industry only though isn't it? I don't think you can attend just as a member of the public.

Looking at the website the only two options to register are I work in the industry, or undergraduates and apprentices. So not sure what passengers would be able to do all day.

I went to Rail Live last year as I work in the industry. A shuttle service was provided by Vivarail on one of their 230's between Honeybourne and Long Marston which connected with mainline services. Perhaps the VT trains are replacing these this year? It is a very industry heavy event so I'm not sure there is much for non enthusiasts to enjoy and as others have said, I don't think the public can visit anyway.

I wonder whether you can just do a round trip between Birmingham and Worcester, rather than staying on the train to arrive at an event you won't be able to get into. A normal return ticket between Birmingham and Worcester by West Midlands Railway is around £10. Here, you're paying £20 but you get to travel in an authentic Pullman coach hauled by a Class 20 one way and a Class 47 the other way. To me, that's worth the extra tenner.

If locos can't be serviced at York at present, what arrangements are likely for VT's trip on 17/18 June, where the Duchess goes Tyseley-York on the Friday then York-Newcastle-Tyseley on the Saturday?

VT have launched a new website today, by the look of it. It has all their trips on it up until the end of the year. As well as the usual fare there are steam-hauled trips to Portsmouth and Liverpool.

Was excited by the Pompey one, but when clicking on Book Now, it actually says it's class 50 hauled.

    Liverpool one is tempting though.

To be fair it does seem a bit confusing especially when 4965 has been used as the photo header.

Perhaps it’s a mistake as the rest of the diesel tours have diesel photo headers.

Is it steam hauled? It says by steam train but as with the Portsmouth one upon clicking booking it shows D400 as the motive power.

Also has a 50 as the photo header.

edited the post but yes it does say Steam Hauled and then the rostered engine being 50050

I think a little tidying up may be needed @Will RL . (give us a shout if any help needed)

Not the best website I've ever used, to find out the date you have to click on each individual trip and look at the calendar.

To set the record straight, the shuttles last year were operated by SLC Operations (and you know where many of us came from) using a VivaRail unit on loan from TfW. SLC stepped in at the last minute at the request of RailLive and VivaRail after the planned operator backed out.

This year SLC Operations are again running the Honeybourne to Long Marston shuttle at Rail Live 22 using a different unit.

Rather ironically in view of the confusion about the Portsmouth trip and the loco used in the picture, the one Castle Class previously to have visited the area was none other than 5050 - with an excursion from Bristol in June 1963. It grazed the platform at Fareham en route and was promptly impounded at Fratton.
