We thought that might be the case with 7109, we stayed over an hour or two to watch the Caley tank, it was great to look at shuffling about instead of whooshing past once and then gone! Thanks.

Just starting to plan our weekend, looking at travelling the Friday - will the other side of Gotherington station be open like it has been on previous galas?

Certainly so, I'm sure the usual fine chicken curry, sandwiches and cakes will be on offer. The ex-Ivo Peters Bentley is also likely to be making appearances in the garden for photographic opportunities with passing trains, times for which to be published shortly. The ever popular pump trolley will also be available for rides.

Don't think these have been asked regarding the timetable anywhere but if so do point me at the answers! Seeking clarification on a few points, apologies in advance for being "that guy"!

    1) The morning good run, does it actually take 50 minutes to get from Gotherington to Cheltenham, or does it make way for an ECS move in the loop?
    2) Does 41312 run down on the back of 7109's local run in the morning?
    3) Does Set 3 start Friday at Winchcombe? Is there an ECS move in the slot it takes on Sat/Sun? Or is there a light engine move?
    4) On Sat/Sun Set 3 starting at Toddington only takes 5 minutes to get to Winchcombe, everything else takes 10, is this correct?
    5) How does 7109 get back to Toddington? Light engine move or attached to another service?

Think that was all, thanks in advance for any responses!

Sits in Gotherington loop to let an ECS pass.

    No, comes down LE beforehand.

Set 3 starts at Winchcombe on Friday, but is stabled overnight at Toddington over the gala so starts there the other 2 days.

    Oops! Typo alert!

    LE move.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

Mostly point this one out because assuming it is the usual 10 minutes then it arrives 1 minute after the local is meant to leave...not ideal!

Does anyone know which loco groups will be represented with a stand at the Gala and which station they will be at?

Did see someone's comment that the 2874 group will be at Toddington IIRC

Due to some slight operational changes and feedback we have taken the opportunity to make some slight tweaks to our timetable for the 'Somerset & Dorset Remembered' weekend that we’re sure you’ll enjoy!

34028 Eddystone comes to the fore on Sunday, swapping duties with 92203 for the day and recreating its days at the head of the Pines Express on our non-stop recreation. It will also now run solo on the 16:44 off Toddington on Saturday, before 92203 takes over for the evening train.

In some other more minor changes, 46521 will now join the back of the 17:11 departure from Toddington on the Friday and Sunday evenings, instead of at Winchcombe, and the final local train of the day with 41312 will arrive back at Toddington 5 minutes earlier than previously timetabled.

I note that in the Railway Magazine(May) write up on this event(sounds like a cracking good one!) it is stated that 34028 Eddystone was the first Bulleid Light Pacific to be rebuilt, in 1958. I saw 34005 at Eastleigh in the summer of 1957 after rebuilding. This is confirmed in D.L. Bradley.s excellent book Locomotives of the Southern Railway Part 2

34028's claim to fame is sadly that it was the first Rebuilt light pacific to be withdrawn, rather than the first of the class to be rebuilt.

34005 Barnstaple entered Eastleigh Works on 14thMay 1957 and was the first light pacific to lose it’s streamlining, leaving as a ‘new’ rebuilt locomotive on June 29th. 34005 was withdrawn in October 1966 and was scrapped a year later.

34028 Eddystone was rebuilt between June and August 1958 and was the first rebuilt light pacific to be withdrawn (71A) at the end of May 1964

This will be the final Cotswold Festival of Steam event for 4270 before the expiry of her boiler certificate, catch her whilst you can! Even better catch her from Toddington at 16.05 Fri & Sun only with a preservation era first freight train to Broadway and return, traveling on the brakevans, for just £10!
