NELPG occupy half of Hopetown Carriage Works - not sure who owns it, but I <think> it may be the council?

According to https://www.a1steam.com/darlington-locomotive-works/ Whessoe Road shed will be split between NELPG and DRPS

Thank You Gents, my internet was playing up last night, couldn't read all of the material on the A1 site.

Not according to the NELPG website which states they have to vacate the carriage works building by September 1st this year and are actively looking for accomodation elsewhere. Unless the building has somehow stretched recently the statement on the front page of NELPG’s website says the Whessoe shed was unsuitable for their needs. Awaiting the latest copy of NELPG News (delayed) for an update on the situation.

Just noticed on the A1 Trust website that The Fen & Fells Flyer is cancelled and the Yorkshire Pullman is now taking place on April 1st 2023, though no official announcement from Tornado Railtours as of writing this though I expect they've informed all passengers.

Assuming this is because the overhaul is taking longer than expected - it has been taken off a couple of RTC trips as well, but all the Aberdonians from the 21st July are still showing as going ahead.

Covid has delayed the overhaul of Tornado's boiler in Germany. Its new return date would not allow enough time for refitting and the necessary testing regime before the Fen & Fells Flyer, hence the cancellation/postponement to next year.

It is being taken over as part of the Council's development of the Railway Heritage area, cannot remember the actual proposed use off-hand. I also seem to recollect that wires got crossed over the move into Whessoe Road shed and that further discussions are taking place with NELPG. Their current lease expires so they possibly would have had to find a new base anyway.

BR Express blue, or BR Green. It looks great in either. All of the later A1s were outshopped in blue before being repainted green in the early 50s. None of them wore Granny Smith washed out green. 60162 didn’t, so there was no chance that a 1948/9 built 60163 would have. It’s an awful insipid colour anyway.

Agreed, it looked great when paired with a the ‘blood and custard Royal Scot’ set.
