    But that would mean preceding the stopper from Newton Abbot which would mean doing Plymouth to NA in 35-37 mins and then being waved through. Platform space at Exeter doesn't seem to be a problem.

    Yes, saw that. It only needs the charter to be about five minutes up at NA but it's so much simpler to run it up the tail of an all stations NA to EXD!

    But as we've been told many times this is all about taking the safe option in white space of the timetable.

    Maybe the signallers will see it differently on the day and recognise that longer servicing time at Riverside on this marathon is a good idea.

    Turned and ready for me tomorrow. I spotted the support crew earlier having an Al fresco breakfast at the diner across the road.

    Ready for me as well. You can't have too much of a good thing can you? And has one of these been here before?

    there was no speed restriction at NA. Given the generous timings I tried and proved a point. 6233 went up Dainton in first valve and no more than 40%. Quite an achievement.

    After a late arrival and a long day folk needing to get to anywhere on the Euston line have the added pleasure of bus replacement. Great end to trip I'm sure.

    And still looking beautiful. Under 2 hours from PNZ including a pickup at Camborne. That's the same time as the service trains albeit with more stops!

    I had to cut out some temporary barriers on the right hand side.

    Bravo Zulu. This is a naval signal, conveyed by flaghoist or voice radio, meaning "well done";

    Would have expected sub 22m for a Class 8 with 10. Very good summit speed.
