One from last week.... LMS 5MT No.44871 is seen climbing out of Glenfinnan (from the drone). Taken on the 16/4/2022. Will share some more once I've finished the editing :)

Saw Jacobite today - Black 5 looked a treat but diesel at rear powering away near Banavie - class 37 tagged on back given the fire risk - sensible. Locals saying good few days without rain. Am booked on 1015 tomorrow so expecting more of the same; Black 5 at front end and class 37 pushing to mitigate fire risks.

I think that's the message across Scotland at present and what Network Rail expects. We were warned of the potential issue by @J Shuttleworth days ago. Unavoidable.

I returned from the West Highlands at the weekend, place is as dry as a bone. Locals report a cool but dry spring - little fresh growth yet. The warmth we enjoyed up there on Thursday and Friday did bring a few trees into leaf, but nowhere near sufficient to cover the acres of dead bracken across the hillsides. A number of signs up warning of extreme fire risk.

I'm on the SRPS job to Kyle tomorrow, with heavy rain forcast for the West Highlands all day:(. I know it is badly needed, but how typical. I guess much more will be needed before some greenery starts to come through.

Travelled with the Jacobite today. Most enjoyable; full marks to West Coast; staff were excellent - stock looked excellent. Little details in advance worked a treat - champagne and chocolates for Mrs Devonbelle. Class 37 at the rear and sounded a treat as we left Fort William. Just a breath of steam from the Black 5. Guard announced about fire risk as we left - I didn’t hear any grumbles. Lineside absolutely tinder dry; so it’s absolutely the right thing to do.

I'm in Scotland next week and just had a quick look to see if there is any space on the Jacobite. The first available date is in August, does that really mean it's fully booked until then? That's impressive if so and if I am in the area I guess I'll just have to chance a pay on the day ticket.

You'd have no problem getting a seat so far this week. There has been plenty of room for pay on the day.

That's good to know. Presumably they leave a coach empty to cover the pay on the day?

A limited number of POTD tickets are available every day so you need to be at the station by 9.00 if not sooner to join the queue.

Finally got round to sorting a few more clips from our trip up in April. The video linked below features drone action from between the 15th and 20th April 2022.

Noticed on Railway herald. A private charter running between Helensburgh Upper and Rannoch on Monday the 13th of June. Seems to involve 1 of the Black 5s from Fort William.

Had another trip up north over the Jubilee Weekend, featuring 44871, 45407 and 45212. Wall to wall sunshine with things starting to look a little greener :).

I've uploaded more drone shots from across the 3rd - 5th June.

Excellent clips Simon, the way forward for video, taking it to new heights. The shorter clips make it even better.

Given the impossibility of sound recording from the drone itself, dubbing in the real sound of the train is preferable to music, and I was wondering at first how you had managed to synchronise it, but then decided that you hadn't.

I can't see how it would run on the strike days themselves. Appears every route North of Glasgow/Edinburgh will be closed.
