The lucky few and their companions gather around the Prairie on the arrival at Swanage of the penultimate Driver Taster on March 25 2022.
Also visible under the clock, in one of his other roles, is the railways official photographer. IMG_8467.JPG

Today on the Severn Valley, 7714 takes water at Kidderminster.
I asked "what can I do?"
The driver said "hold that chain, it's important, don't let go!"
I've been holding it for over half an hour now, nothings happened and no one's come back, wonder why?

Totally off topic but a memory of that song, which has since always had a special appeal. I was driving along the road listening to the radio when the heavens opened. The downpour was so torrential that the wipers couldn't cope and, like everyone else, I pulled in to the side and stopped, at which point the DJ announced, "And now for Johnny Nash with . . ."

Having recently posted a picture of Bluebell loco crew watering the Adams Tank at Sheffield Park in 1983 (post #428) here is a similar view taken 36 years later in 2019.

Whatever may have changed during the intervening years, the atmosphere remains the same.
