    Over the weekend of 2/3 April 4079 Pendennis Castle will return to steam for the first time since repatriation from Australia in 2000. Lady McAlpine will perform the launch on Sat 2 April at 11.15am.

    I really wanted to attend this event but due to other commitments I didn't have time. Great to see 4079 back in action at last in some YouTube videos posted earlier but she doesn't sound in the best of health and has rather a lot of leaks at the front end. Still some fettling required by the looks of it:

    Standard Didcot locos at the moment! The Saint sounded dreadful for the for a while when it ran

    The Saint is now a great performer and is off to the Severn Valley Railway gala later this month. Teething issues on Pendennis were to be expected and the team are already working on these. Nothing that 22 years worth of restoration experience can't overcome!
