Thanks should really go to the people doing the work in SY20 including last Saturday during less than wondrous weather. There are new photos on the Corris website this evening.

It's such images which make you realise the old roofed arrangement at Corris wasn't some mere indulgence! Can't think of any other traverser in use anywhere (bar miniature lines), so I suspect there'll be a photographer or two on hand, come the first day of the season. :)

For anyone on the ‘Corris Railway Interest Group’ on FB, there are pictures of the traverser being delivered and installed (sorry, there doesn’t seem to be a share link on the FB page on my iPad).

The Corris will get a few minutes on national tv this evening at 7.30 on BBC 4 when the Gareth Edwards Great Welsh Adventure series gets an outing.

And there are also new pictures on the Corris website this evening. The traverser has arrived from Statfold and is in place and the trackwork is progressing well.

Since @Llwyngwern seems otherwise occupied (hope you're OK), limited work on Falcon No.10 has resumed. More money is needed to complete parts still required to put the loco into service, but an interim 'display in steam condition' is the immediate aim:

As always, the Corris's welcome common sense approach to their expenditure looms large.

Yes, all okay with me thanks. I just took a break from NP for a few days.

Elsewhere on the Corris site it is now possible to buy tickets in advance to travel and the system deals with various discounts. Purchase at the railway will also be possible on the day.

The Corris Facebook pages show that clearance checking has been underway with the new track layout and platform edging at Corris station

The Corris website has some further pictures added. Not many, but they show more volunteer construction jobs being done for the new build Falcon.

Great clip. The impromptu assistance with sleeper shifting, from a local chap with a 4x4 who happened to be passing by, really underlines the result of something the Corris is so good at ..... ensuring it is as valued an element in the local community as the Slaters or the surgery. Not the kind of thing that happens without years of reciprocal goodwill and fantastic to see in action.

The quality which led to the original line being "Y rheilffordd gyfeillgar" is evidently a legacy which is rightly cherished and nurtured by the revived Corris.

Sadly the surgery has closed. It was housed in a portakabin in the station area whose removal after closure has allowed the current works to move ahead. The Slaters is very much still on the go and opens midday to eight p.m. on Sundays according to the web, nicely timed for anyone wishing good food and drink around 150 yards from Corris station.

I thought the surgery had moved, rather than shut up shop.

Online information ranges from 'Permanently Closed' ... in September 2009, to 'Open'. Not reassuringly current (or helpful). Does the village still have GP access, closer than Machynlleth, Tywyn or Dolgellau?

I believe the practice is based in Mach.

In which case, I bet the locals can't wait for that new bridge to open!

The traverser is in use. Yesterday number 7 ran round a train of carriages at Corris for the first time. There is a brief video clip on the Corris Facebook page this morning --usual reminder that you don't need an FB account to have a look. Hopefully we'll see a longer film or photos of the event ere long.

Congratulations to everyone who has planned and worked on this development which will mean locos heading trains in both directions -- aside from top and tail -- since 1948.

Interesting bit of kit. I'm a bit surprised that a sector plate was not used, however - easier to make and maintain, I would have thought. On the other hand, looking at the track layout, with the longish run-up to the traverser, there would seem after all to have been room, just, for a conventional point (only short-wheelbase locos, so a short one) and what would only need to be a very short headshunt. Still - it'll be great fun to watch the traverser in action.....
