Never mind "in preservation". I think the furthest north has been Carlisle on the West Coast and Newcastle on the East Coast.

At last for Wendy and me, MN18 (in preservation) and going with it to Scotland. Happy days

I see that the flux capacitor is working as, according to RTT, it passed Milnthorpe 5 minutes before it left Carnforth N Jn.

Is that the new code word for the extra motive power we shouldn't mention? :D

Apart from the glitch in the RTT at Carnforth I was wondering how it gained 4 mins on the schedule between Tebay and Shap. Then I saw the video...

Silly o'clock start today but well worth it as SRMN class No. 35018 'British India Line' makes a fine sight as it works 1Z80 towards Shap summit and on to
'Auld Reekie' with Mick Kelly driving, Craig Todd firing and Peter James Guard. The return will see Steve Chipperfield driving, Martyn Soames firing and
    Ian Seymour Guard

This schedule illustrates how hard it is to make decent progress on the national network and how much charters are pushed to either end of the day's operations.

Preston to Beattock. That's about 140 miles in four and a half hours.

When using the ‘silly o’clock’ expression I was referring to my start to get into position and not as you appear to be suggesting the early start of 1Z80

Aye it’s been a grand day out - but not one for the purists.
